Falling for Red

When I was getting ready to shoot this outfit I couldn't find my denim jacket anywhere, which is weird because I wear it just about every other day.  Luckily I found it after tearing apart my room in panic after thinking about what I would do if I had to leave for school without it!

I'm a sucker for red and thought this top would look great casually with this outfit, or dressed up with a skirt for future game days. I thought the slight ruffling at the hem was sophisticated, yet fun too.

Cute Baseball Caps

When I wake up a little late or am just not feeling my hair in the morning you can bet I’m throwing on a baseball cap.  I love the versatility of wearing a baseball cap. You can wear it with work out clothes for a sporty look or with something a little dressier like a blouse and jeans.

All of these hats would make great gifts!

Nautical Stripes

This has been my go-to outfit all summer. I usually am not a big fan of wearing t-shirts like this at all. But when I tried on this striped one, I just about changed my mind on wearing them. It's so comfortable and perfect to throw on with jeans all summer long.

I can't wait to wear this outfit to class because I know how perfect it will be when I'm running out the door. I love finding pieces that are as comfortable as this because it makes them so much more fun to wear!

My Favorite Places to Shop

via

I get asked a lot where to find specific items, but it dawned on me that I've never shared where my go-to places are when I'm in search of something or just feel like browsing.  I'm a creature of habit and pretty much only look at the same few places, unless I'm trying really hard to find something specific.

People I talk to are often surprised when I say that I 100% prefer online shopping to shopping in person.  I find it so much easier to sort through things online than in a cluttered store.  It's also so nice to be able to sort through a store by price, size, or color!

So my favorite places to shop you ask?

SHOPBOP / Oh boy, if I could only purchase clothing from one store for the rest of my life it would be from Shopbop.  I find the online department store so easy to navigate. They also have a great sale section that is rich with good finds.  The best part about Shopbop though is that they're owned by Amazon so if you're a prime member you can get 2-day or next day shipping for a super low price.

ZARA / Zara is my favorite store when I want to find something trendy, but inexpensive. There's always a plethora of cute ready to wear options and they get new stock in their stores and online very frequently.

J.CREW / I've always been a fan of J.Crew, but honestly fell out of love with the brand until recently. I've really loved some of their new arrivals and especially love all of their jewelry! But pro tip: always wait until there's a sale to purchase anything. There's always a sale going on, so if you don't see one wait a few days!

Fashion BNKR / I love BNKR when I'm looking to find something unique. The Australian store has a great selection of pieces that tend to be simple, yet sophisticated.

Friday Five 8/25

I'm already one week into my senior year! So far so good.  The first week of class is always nice because there's not too much work yet, but the classes tend to lean on the boring side. I don't think I could sit through another lecture where we go over a syllabus, so I'm glad that's done with.  This semester I am taking my last two advertising classes before I'm finished with my major. It makes me sad because I have loved those classes so much and don't want to think about completing the university requirements I stupidly saved for my last semester. If you're a freshman or sophomore somewhere, take my advice: finish your required classes as soon as possible!

Here's what has been on my mind this week!

1. As I've said in previous posts, I moved into my sorority house last week! I am loving it! So much more than I thought I would. It has been so much fun to be surrounded by so many people all the time and have so much space throughout the house that I don't have to worry about cleaning! Of course I pick up after myself, but not having to do dishes or vacuum is so nice.

2. Our first football game is next week and everyone wears white to celebrate the start of the season. I will probably end up wearing something already in my closet, but I would really like to try this dress!

3. I love this outfit on Isabella! The pop of blue is perfect.

4. My new favorite blog is Collage Vintage! It's so fun to read through her blog because a lot of the posts are only in Spanish. I always took Spanish in school so I love getting to use it. Beyond that though, all of her pictures are gorgeous.  She definitely pushes the boundaries of typical blog photography, which makes her posts interesting to read through.

5. Giving myself a little pat on the back because this is the second week in a row that there's been a post up everyday! I've been pushing myself lately to stay consistent and so far so good! I've been getting really organized and even have all of my posts through the end of September planned! I hope you all have been enjoying them.  Let me know if there's anything you would like to see on here!

Did you catch this week's posts?

Pink Wrap Skirt

Top / Skirt / Shoes / Jacket / Sunglasses / Cable Bracelet / White Bracelet

I'm back in Dallas to start my senior year! I love being here because there are so many great areas to take pictures for the blog! Bear with me over the next few weeks because I still have a few posts from taken at home going up, but I couldn't help but share this outfit first! How cute is this pink wrap skirt?

I was surprised that this skirt is a true wrap style. For some reason I was expecting it to be sewn together at some point, but it completely unwraps, which is nice because you can adjust it to perfectly fit your body.  This was a great casual outfit to wear while running errands during move in weekend.  I shot these pictures after brunch at Dolce Riviera with my family before they left town.

What the Clutch!?

Clutches can be a great way to make an outfit stand out. One of my favorite ways to wear my statement clutches are with simple, single toned outfit. For example, a lot of these clutches would look great against an all white, or all black, outfit. Did you catch this all white outfit from a few weeks ago? This clutch would look great paired with the simple white look.

A big deciding factor when considering purchasing a specific clutch is how much I can hold in it.  As phones are getting bigger and bigger it’s getting harder to fit everything you need in the small handbags. I know I’ll have to scale back on the number of items I can bring with me in a clutch, so usually set of goal of being able to fit my phone, a few cards (like my driver’s license and credit card) and maybe a lipstick or mascara.

The Perfect Outfit for Class

On my second day of the semester, I thought I'd share a perfect outfit for class. Though it may be a little too hot in Dallas to wear this just yet, it would be ideal for anyone in school up north. I am in love with this sweater from loft. I'm gutted that I can't find a link online anywhere, but perhaps if you show any of these pictures to someone in store, they may be able to show you where it is. I only just bought it, so I'm thinking it might be an in-store only option.

Back to College Necessities

Today is my last first day of school! Can you believe it?  I feel like the summer went by so quickly, I've hardly had time to realize that I am stepping into my senior year. I do have to admit I love back to school shopping, and will definitely miss it after this year.  Getting new school supplies and accessories has always been exciting to me.

Friday Five 8/18

  1. I really can’t believe it's been a week since the last day of my internship. Seriously the summer flew by so quickly.  I feel like in every Friday post I ask how the week has gone by so fast. But honestly, this summer just doesn’t feel like it has been as long as it has. Interning this summer has been an amazing experience and I have learned so much. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with some amazingly talented people.
  2. I ordered this pillow for my room at school this year and can’t wait for it to come in the mail. Blue is such a soothing color and this will look perfect with my navy pillows from last year!
  3. I’ve been eyeing this dress for a few weeks and have since walked passed a few people wearing it on the street, I think I need it. It’s perfect for SMU Football games!
  4. I accidentally bought this mini notebook, but have been loving using it each day to write a little recap of what’s happened.  I know that I’ll love getting to look back on what I’m doing now in a few years.
  5. @nycfoodtramp has been my favorite instagram for all things food this summer. I love that they post delicious food from restaurants but also some recipes to try at home!

Beach Breeze

This ended up being the perfect dress to wear to dinner on my first night on Martha's Vineyard.  When I saw it in the store I immediately gravitated towards it (I mean, hello it's my favorite off the shoulder style!). I ended up ordering it online and loved how it fit when I got it in the mail.

It's a great dress for so many different occasions because it is incredibly comfortable. It's a knitted material so it's very stretchy and breathable, which makes it perfect for just about any occasion.

School Supplies Haul

This may be the most boring post ever if you don't like shopping for school supplies, but for me it's always the highlight of my year! I get so excited when I start fresh with new pens and notebooks. As I've gotten older, I've certainly needed less supplies, but that doesn't mean it gets any less fun.

Seeing Stripes

When Zara first had this dress it sold out before I could get my hands on it. On a later trip to Zara I saw it again and was excited to find it in my size. I bought it immediately without trying it on and luckily loved how it looked on.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that I would pick up a dress like this. It’s off the shoulder and blue and white (my favorite color combination).  I swear my outfit choices have become very predictable as we’re reaching the end of the summer.

August Playlist 2017

It's my third year in a row posting a playlist in August! Here's what I was listening to in 2015 and 2016. It's funny because I feel like the set up for these playlists look exactly the same.  I still gravitate towards the same fonts and layouts.

Two of my new favorite albums have come out this month. Kesha's Rainbow and Amine's Good For You have been playing on my Spotify a lot recently. I especially love listening to Kesha's album because it shares a lot about her personal journey that is really inspiring to listen to.

What's your favorite song at the moment?

Sunset White

Mondays are always harder when you're just coming back from a vacation.  I'm definitely still in vacation mode but need to get back in the swing of things for a productive few weeks ahead.  This is my last week of my internship (how did this summer go by so fast?) and I have a little over a week until I head back to Dallas to start senior year!

Spending some time in Martha's Vineyard last week was so nice. I love walking around downtown Edgartown and viewing all of the beautiful houses.  What it would be like to actually live in one, I can only dream.  On our last night I wore this all white outfit, which allowed these cute denim sandals to pop a little bit.
