Sunset Strutting

This dress is so comfortable and looks amazing (especially when it's golden hour).  I shot this look after getting home from work on a very hot day so I wouldn't exactly say I was looking my best.  After fixing my makeup and hair I still wasn't convinced this would be my best outfit shoot, but I wanted to make sure I had something to post today.

But, you guys!!! The golden hour is everything! I usually try to shoot as close to sunset as possible and today was right in the sweet spot.  I can't believe how golden-y all these photos turned out! They don't call it golden hour for nothing...

Sorority Recruitment Tips

Surprisingly, I think this might be my first post about sororities! For those of you who don’t know, I am a Tri Delta! I love being in a sorority and am so excited for all of you that will be rushing this year! Many of you will be heading to school very soon to rush in the fall, but if you go to a school like mine you have to wait until January!

Enjoy it! My biggest tip would be to have fun.  This is so important.  If you’re too worried about doing the right thing or giving the right answer to a question you won’t be able to show the sororities what you’re really like.  Having fun, going with the flow, and being yourself are great things to remember during the process.

Get lots of sleep! Getting to bed as early as you can the night before recruitment starts and during the actual week will help you stay relaxed and will overall just make you a happier, more friendly person to talk to.  Having conversations about yourself all day is actually pretty tiring and after a few rounds I’m sure you’ll start to feel it.

Be yourself! This one is so important.  A lot of these sororities probably don’t know you personally, so this is a chance to get to know them while also letting them know what you’re like.   Don’t try to be anyone your not because in the long run I think you’ll end up regretting it.  When you end up in the house you’re supposed to be in it’s all worth it.  It doesn’t matter where your house might stand versus the other houses, it just matters that you are happy in your sorority.

Go with your gut! Most recruitment guides and tips that I saw before I rushed all said things along the lines of you’ll end up where you’re supposed to be, keep an open mind, etc.  And while yes, all of those things are true, I don’t think you should put yourself through something where you know you won’t be happy.  If you are left with a house at the end of it that you don’t think will work don’t force yourself to do it.  You can always rush a second time (at a lot of schools it’s common to take a few upperclassmen).

I'll be doing an outfit guide for recruitment soon, so if you're rushing look forward to that within the next week probably!

What sorority are ya'll in? (if you've already rushed)

Green with a Twist

Dress / Belt from a Lilly Pulitzer romper / Shoes (Similar) / Sunglasses

This dress is one of the most comfortable dresses because the fabric is a really unique jersey blend that's incredibly soft and a little bit thick, which is flattering.  I love this color too and since I've started wearing, it I've realized that green is not an easy color to find.  The dress I linked is the exact style, but unfortunately I can't find this color online.  If you really love this color you can shop it here!

I felt like wearing the dress on it's own the other night felt too plain and I couldn't find the right necklace to go with it.  I had the belt from one of my Lilly Pulitzer rompers sitting on my bed and randomly decided to tie it around my waist.  I actually think it looked pretty cute so I decided to keep it on.  Although the two are not meant to be worn together, I really love how the pattern on the belt adds a fun touch.

Martha's Vineyard Style

This time next week I’ll be getting ready to head up to Martha’s Vineyard! I am so excited to be back on the island and equally as excited to get a few days off from work. I am interning this summer with a great company in NYC and I have been loving it, but my commute is pretty long so my weekdays have been starting at 6AM all summer.  Being able to (kind of) sleep in for the next 5 days will be amazing.  My family will actually head up to Martha’s Vineyard on Sunday, but I only get three days off so I will be meeting them there on Wednesday!

I love people watching on Martha’s Vineyard and seeing what everyone else is wearing.  The style is a great preppy, classic mix that I love, especially this time of year.  As I get geared up to head there, I’ve found some cute pieces that remind me of the great style!

EWC Designs is here!

You guys!! I'm so excited to announce today that I will be selling my calligraphy designs! For the past few months, I've been working on perfecting not only the designs, but the quality of the print itself (from the packaging to the type of paper it's printed on).

When I first started thinking about this, I thought it might be easy to do a digital printout where essentially you'd be able to purchase the art as a computer file and print it out on your own.  While that might be easier, and it's more instant, I don't think it would really do the artwork justice (and I don't think ya'll would get your money's worth either).

I've finally narrowed down a few types of paper that I love and will continue to do a few test prints before officially launching next week.

I am so excited that so many of you were looking forward to this as much as I was.  My goal for my designs is to spread positivity and provide inspiration.  I hope you find that some of these prints are perfect to hang on your wall, above your desk, or wherever you decide to display you work!

As of right now, everything will be for sale next Friday, July 29! (I'll let you know if anything changes, but I don't think it will!).

Watch the video to get a few sneak peaks and here a little more about the back end of this project, and make sure to sign up for the mailing list so you can be the first to shop the collection (there might be a coupon code too!).

Just thank you so much to everyone who has encouraged me to do this, it has been so much fun to work on so far! I can't wait to hear what you guys think of the full collection!

9 Planners for 2017

1 / 2 / 3
4 / 5 / 6
7 / 8 / 9

As back to school comes closer and closer many many start looking for a new planner.  Even though most planners that were purchased last year still have a few months in them (I know mine goes until December!), it seems like every year August/September is the season to shop for a new one.

Thank you to the person who requested to see this post on tumblr (if you ever have any requests, that's the best place to send them in!). A lot of these planners are just darling, but I especially love the blue tie dye one from May designs!

Which planner is your favorite?

Tomorrow I’ll be sharing the big announcement that I’ve been teasing all week! Hopefully you’re not sick of it yet and are just as excited as I am to find out what I’ve been working on! Last clue: if you love shopping online and art (as said earlier) you’ll be extra happy with this announcement!

Embroidered Top and Ripped Jeans

Top / Jeans / Bag (similar color)  / Shoes (similar)

Impeccable pig is one of my favorite shops in Dallas.  They have a few stores around the country and an online store, which is where I found this top.  I’m a sucker for embroidered clothing, so this was right up my alley (not to mention white and blue are my favorite colors!).

This top has proved to been a great purchase because it’s so comfortable and really easy to wear.  I’ve already worn it to work (with white jeans for a little bit of a nicer look) and now I’m wearing it here with this incredibly comfortable jeans from AG.

Guys, I’m serious these are the most comfortable jeans.  The denim is really stretchy and soft, which makes them great to lounge around in on the weekends.

Two more days until the big announcement! I’m honestly so excited you guys!! I’ve been working really hard to make sure it’s just about perfect before announcing it.  Today’s hint: I’ve been testing out probably over 50 types of paper leading up to the announcement… haha

Beauty Favorites

I’ve done blog posts about my favorite beauty products in the past, but as I find new products and try out new things, I add new things to my favorites list! If you’ve read my other beauty posts on the blog these may sound familiar, but take it as they’re a true holy grail favorite.

Nars Laguna Bronzer: This has been the only bronzer I’ve used for at least 6 years, or maybe even longer.  It’s just a great bronzer for any time of year because it’s mostly mat with the smallest (almost nonexistent) bit of sparkle.  It adds a nice glow when you’re feeling a little pale.

Brazilian Bum Bum Cream: I saw a few people talking about this online a few weeks ago and I decided to try it out and I love it!! It’s basically a cream that is really rich in caffeine so it tightens your skin a little bit and reduces the appearance of cellulite.  I guess I’ve seen a difference when I’ve put it on (honestly I’m not too sure), but I love the way it smells and it’s really moisturizing!

Fresh Lip Balm: These lip balms are seriously the best.  They’re more expensive than your typical drug store lip balm, but they’re seriously the most moisturizing! A few years ago they were part of Sephora’s gift that you get during the month of your Birthday, which was how I first tried them.  I used to have annoyingly chapped lips when I was in New Jersey for the winters and this was the only thing that could really make them better.

Beauty Blender: I know you’ve probably heard of this one talked about everywhere, but it’s the best.  I love that when I use a beauty blender to put on my makeup the foundation goes on so smoothly and because the beauty blender is wet the makeup goes on with a little bit of a dewey finish, which I love.  (Also, don't worry mine isn't pink like the one linked! It started as tan! It's not that dirty!)

3 More days until the big announcement! I told ya’ll yesterday that I would be sharing something special on Friday and currently I’ve only posted sneak peaks on my Instagram (@dashfoserendipity) and Snapchat (@dashofsnaps), but I’m going to give ya’ll a small clue on here too for now: it has to do with art! That’s all I’ll tell for now! Check back throughout the week for more clues and on Friday for the big announcement!

Pink Ruffles

Dress / Wedges (old Tory Burch)  / Necklace
Today’s post is pretty exciting for more than a few reasons! You might be able to tell that the blog got a minor face lift of the weekend.  I was never a fan of the pink and black theme I had going on, and honestly I never intended for it to happen! After playing around with a few things I came up with this theme and I love it! My favorite colors are light blue and navy blue so this is definitely more reflective of my personality!

Second exciting thing is that I got a new camera over the weekend! I knew that the purchase was coming up, but I finally decided to bite the bullet on Saturday.  My old camera, a canon T3i, was actually cracked in the display screen so I could only see half of what I was shooting.  I ended up deciding to purchase a Canon 6D, which was definitely a big upgrade.  I’ve paired it with my 50mm 1.4f lens that I’ve been using for a few years, and I’m really impressed with how my first pictures have turned out.  One of the things I’m a little bummed about is that I can’t take my own outfit pictures anymore because 1) there’s no flip out screen and 2) it focuses so fast that I don’t have time to get my hand (with the remote) out of the frame! I’ve been taking my outfit pictures with a tripod for about a year and I loved the flexibility that came with that, but I guess for better quality pictures having someone else take my photos isn’t a horrible trade off.

Third exciting thing! I have a really big announcement coming on Friday! Seriously you guys don’t want to miss it.  I’m going to be posting a (sort of) teaser on Instagram: @dashofserendipity, later today and I’ll probably post more sneak peaks over on Snapchat: @dashofsnaps (I’ve been trying to use mine a lot lately!).  I’ll post more information in this week’s blog posts too, but plan on checking the blog at 8am EST Friday!

Now for the actual post! This has already gotten so long.  I love this dress from Amanda Uprichard becauses it’s so fun and perfect for summer.  I always turn to Amanda Uprichard for a good hot pink piece.  I feel like this color can look so great, especially in the summer with a nice tan.  The color alone is just so fun and I love the ruffle at the bottom of the dress! I decided to keep things simple, but still add a little color with a Beaded by W necklace.  This one has a few different colored tassels so it matches a lot of different outfits.

Friday Finds 7.15

Happy Friday people! This week has gone by fast, but also kind of slow at the same time.  (You know what I mean?).  The summer is starting to go by so fast and before I know it I'll be heading back to school, which I'm excited about but I'm not exactly sure I want to trade in days at the pool for days in the library just yet.

Speaking of trading Summer for Fall, the Nordstrom anniversary sale just started! While I can never get used to the idea of shopping for Fall in the middle of spring, they do have some great deals.  If you're a Nordstrom card holder you can shop now, but if you're not the sale opens up next Friday.

This cardigan is so cute (I love the little bit poking out at the bottom), but these booties are catching my eye right now.

ATTN SCARF LOVERS! This is the cutest scarf for fall!!

If you're obsessed with pool floats right now, check out this one.  I've never seen this color before!

Enjoy your weekend!

30 Rompers Under $50

Rompers are definitely my go-to during the summer.  Especially when it's hot, rompers are just so easy to throw on.  Depending on where you look though, cute rompers can get expensive.  I've found 30 rompers that are all $50 or less (mostly less!) that will make you feel confident during the summer.
One of my favorites is this flamingo one! I love the colors and the fact that there are flamingoes printed all over it, one of my favorite summer animals! I also love this gingham one because it's classic and great going into fall too.

Which romper was your favorite?

Recipes to Try

Since I've been working, I haven't had a lot of time to cook so I have been building up a good bunch of recipes I'm looking to try.  Overtime I scroll through Pinterest, I find more and more recipes that look delicious.  I swear 90% off my Pinterest feed is mouth watering food.

What have you been cooking lately?
