I'm a Tri Delt!

Many of you may know (especially if you follow me on Insta!) that two weeks ago I got a bid from Delta Delta Delta!!! I'm so excited to finally have the opportunity to join a sorority and have absolutely loved the past two weeks.  It's definitely been non-stop ever since bid day, which would explain for the sporadic posting, but I'm starting to settle into a better schedule now that classes are in full swing.  This week is actually already big/little week which is really exciting and I can't wait to find out who my big is on Saturday!

A lot of you have questions about my rush experience and just about being in a house in general, so please leave them down below! I think next week I'm going to devote all my posts to be all things sorority related.  So, I'll post what I wore each day of recruitment, what happened during big/little, and maybe a Q&A too! I love that I've been able to (virtually) meet so many other Tri Delts that have messaged me on Tumblr.  There are so many of ya'll out there!

Please leave any questions you have about rush down below and I'll answer them next week!

Valentine's Day Treats

Valentine's day is SO quickly approaching; it seems like just yesterday I was at home for Thanksgiving.  Many people despise Valentine's day, and although I've never had a true ~valentine~, other than all the kids in my second grade class who dropped a piece of candy in my little valentine's box, I think the holiday is just a fun day to appreciate your friends and family! It's also a good excuse to treat yo' self and indulge in a little extra chocolate.

As a pink lover, Valentine's day is the one day of the year it's acceptable to don a little more pink than normal.  I also find a ton of my friends have birthdays around Valentine's day, so these gifts could be seen as a special gift guide for those friends too!

FRIES BEFORE GUYS KOOZIE //  For someone who is anti-valentine's day, maybe is just getting over a breakup, or just really loves their fries this is the perfect inexpensive gift!

YES WAY ROSE TOWEL // The cutest phrase on the cutest towel!!

SWELL BOTTLE // This is water bottle might be one of my favorite purchases ever.  It keeps drinks so cold and I try to bring it around with me as often as I can.

BRACELET SET // These bracelets are a fun gift for the girl who loves jewelry but maybe doesn't feel so confident when it comes to stacking bracelets.  I love that this set comes with some fun vibrant colors that can all be worn separately, together, or with different bracelets!

STUD EARRINGS // A cute way to add a pop of pink to any outfit!

BOW BARRETTE // I'm in love with the Ferragamo Vara collection, and this barrette is no exception! Such a cute and fun hair accessory.

LOVE POTION MUG // This mug is perfect for a Valentine's day cup of coffee-- or hot chocolate!

FURLA CARD HOLDER // A cardholder that stands out will go with almost any purse you bring around!

TRAVEL VINTAGE SPEAKER // This is such a cute idea for a speaker.  I can see this being very useful for days at the beach.

PASSPORT COVER // For a jet setter, or just a dreamer with a big travel bucket list.

SUGAR LIPS SWEETS // Let's be real, who doesn't love getting a little something' sweet on valentine's day? These little lips are just too cute.

IM TWENTY

Today is my 20th birthday.  That's crazy.  I can't believe that I'm no longer a teenager.  I remember my 10th birthday party pretty well actually because it was the year High School Musical came out and I had all of my friends over for a sleepover to celebrate.  To think how much has changed in those ten years is wild, but it's even more wild to think what might happen in the next ten.  I'll be thirty *likewhat??!!!?* and I know it's a long way away but so much will have changed by then.  I can't wait to see what my 20s will bring me and I hope ya'll stick around to see!

Shoes, OMG Shoes.

7 / 8 / 9

If you asked me a few years ago, I would've never said I was a shoe person.  I think it's really because I didn't have that many occasions to wear fun shoes to when I was in high school.  I really could get away with wearing the same few shoes almost everyday.  For me, that was a pair of jack rogers in the summer and a riding boot in the winter.  Now, for everyday it's pretty much the same, but for any fun occasion I jump at the chance to wear some cool shoes.  Whether the color pops, or the design is unique I've just fallen in love with so many shoes recently.

Yesterday, I noticed how many people commented on my shoes saying they'd be great for formal events, which sparked the idea to make this post.  I've recently seen so many shoes in stores that I've loved, and wanted to jot them all down in a post like this!

I have #5 and can say it's absolutely worth every penny.  They're not even that expensive really, but the color and material honestly makes them look like they're a lot more.   Plus, the thick heel makes them comfortable and easy to walk in!

Beaded Blue

DRESS: Needle & Thread (Similar / Similar)  / SHOES: Aldo / EARRINGS: Tiffany

As soon as I saw this dress, I instantly fell in love.  This color blue is one of my favorites and the beading is just gorgeous.  Luck was seriously on my side when I found it at Saks, because it was really on sale.  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find this exact style online anywhere, but it has brought me to find so many other amazing Needle & Thread dresses (similar ones linked above).

January Playlist

**excuse the typo with rudimental! sorry!

I've been listening to so many great songs recently that really get me pumped up.  Listening to this playlist in the mornings has really gotten me excited for my day and I can't help but sing along to so many of them.  I've fallen in love with rudimental recently and I completely love the style of all there songs, and the fact that they collaborated with my long time fav, Ed Sheeran, which makes me so incredibly happy and I love how the song turned out!!

What's your favorite song at the moment?

What's Black and White and Grey All Over?

JACKET: BB Dakota / SWEATER: Dear Hannah (boutique in Dallas)
NECKLACE: Asha / SKIRT: BCBGeneration

Many people that knew me in high school would say that I hardly ever wore black.  My wardrobe consisted of a lot of color and the closest thing to black was probably navy.  As my style has developed in college it's still colorful, but maybe just toned down a bit.  I've even ventured into the world of black clothing. This outfit is pretty edgy, but I love it.

These boots, the ever so popular Stuart Weitzman 5050, are amazing.  I actually stumbled upon these at a Stuart Weitzman outlet store for about half the cost.  So I'd suggest, if you're planning on buying a pair of these boots, check out an outlet first! They didn't have black but I'm so happy I ended up with this grey color because it's unique and more of a statement against jeans and darker pants.

Friday Finds // Jan 8

via

Friday Finds is back! It seems like forever since I've last done one of these and a lot has happened! It's a new year, almost a new semester, and I'm ready for a fresh start at this series!

Making a Murderer // Oh. My. God.  This series is crazy.  Netflix is really hitting all the marks with their shows recently (I'm a huge fan of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and House of Cards). The documentary follows a man who spent 18 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit and just when you think that is horrible enough-- it all gets worse.  I can't believe that this happened within the United States justice system.  I'm eager to follow the story as it gains even more press from the Netflix series. I haven't quite finished all the episodes yet, so no spoilers please!

fresh Skincare Products I received a set of fresh skincare products for christmas and I'm really surprised by how much I love everything.  Their masks are definitely more expensive than others, so I was really skeptical to see how everything worked.  The set I have is this one from Sephora (it's out of stock so here are similar sets: Sugar Indulgence, Black Tea Favorites, Skincare Sensations), which was only $62 and a great way to try out the products.  Full size of the Black Tea or Rose masks are $92.

Pom Poms

1 / 2 / 3

4 / 5 / 6

7 / 8 / 9

I've recently become obsessed with pom pom hats.  In Vermont, it was so cold that wearing a hat felt like a necessity to stay warm.  I've never really been a huge hat fan in the past, but I found one I really liked at Club Monaco last year, and now I can't stop wearing them.  Hats with pom poms can make any outfit look very cozy and wintery.  Even if you don't need one to stay warm, these hats are still perfect for brisk days!

I found the Canada Goose hat (#6 above!) in bloomingdales right before my trip and purchased it in a maroon color.  I love how this hat fits and the thick knit is great for warmth.  My cousins both were wearing #8 when I met up with them in NYC a few weeks ago and I was definitely jealous that I didn't have the same hat! It's actually on super sale at Lord & Taylor with an extra 15% off with the code "SAVE"!

NYC Wandering

JACKET: Burberry / SCARF: Club Monaco / SHIRT: Club Monaco

SKIRT: Club Monaco (Similar) / BOOTS: AndrĂ© Assous / BAG: Rebecca Minkoff

After yesterday's weather, It's hard to believe that just a few weeks ago, on Christmas, it was 70 degrees.  My original plan to walk outside in just a skirt and top was immediately thrown out when I saw it wouldn't be much warmer than 30 degrees.  Naturally, I threw on my Burberry quilted coat that I wear with almost everything and this amazingly soft scarf from Club Monaco.  This scarf is one of my favorites because it's not only warm, but it's so versatile.  Plus, it's perfect for traveling because you can lay it out as a blanket to keep you warm on a plane or in a car.

For the sake of photos I braved the cold and took off my jacket for a short few minutes.  It was freezing, guys! I definitely regretted not wearing tights to cover up the part of my thighs that wasn't covered by my boots or skirt.

Favorite 15 Beauty Products of 2015

MAKEUP BAG: Marley Lilly

I'm a huge makeup addict.  I love doing makeup, talking about makeup, (buying makeup sadly).  A lot of the products I'm using right now I'm in love with and I feel like they're doing a really great job of creating the makeup look I'm hoping for.  With that being said, I've gathered up my favorites over the past year.  Either I've discovered them in 2015, or I've been using them a lot.

Woodstock

JACKET: Barbour / SWEATER: J.Crew / GLOVES: Mark and Graham

JEANS: AG Jeans / NECKLACE: Asha

On Friday, my family and I drove home from Woodstock, VT where we spent the few days before New Years.  While we originally planned on skiing most of the trip, the lack of snow (and cold weather in general) in the days leading up to our trip meant that there wasn't really much open as far as skiing goes.  We made a visit to Killington one day (after the first big snowfall of the year) and were sadly surprised that there still wasn't a lot of snow.  Plus, the wait for the lift apparently was around 30 minutes, which seemed just horrible.  Though we couldn't ski, we still all had fun exploring and enjoying our time together.

I got this Barbour coat for Christmas and I really love it.  I knew I would, but I'm surprised by how warm it kept me on the days where it actually did get cold in Vermont.  Another Christmas gift, my gloves, were so perfect too because it got pretty cold as we walked around the cute town of Woodstock.  I'm definitely grateful to have these gloves that actually have my monogram on them! How cute!

I also want to apologize that these photos are a little out of focus.  I didn't bring my tripod with me so I had a family member take these photos and for some reason they all came out blurry!

New Year's Resolutions

via
Happy 2016 everyone! I am relieved to get back on an even year.  I don't know why but the odd years just irk me a little bit.  Maybe it's because a lot of my big milestones have and will happen on even years-- I was born in '96, graduated high school in '14, and will graduate college in '18.  Even numbers just make me feel more at ease.

This year I've put a lot of thought into my New Year's resolutions and have actually been coming up with this list for quite awhile. I really want to stick to them, which is why I think it's so important to actually just write them down somewhere.  Try and write down yours too in the comments so we can all reflect on this post as the year goes on!

Recently I've been feeling a little discouraged when it comes to my blog.  You can probably tell that in the past few weeks my posts have been lacking.  I have just been feeling slightly uninspired with myself and my style which makes it really hard to be making posts! But, I think I've finally gotten out of that rut with the help of writing this very post!

It's easy to feel at a standstill with almost anything you do whether it's work, school or blogging.  There will always be people who are at different stages than you and they may look to be more successful, happier, or doing better.  Seeing people succeed can either be so motivating or really uninspiring.  Regardless, you can never move forward in your own life unless you do something.   So that's what I've decided to make 2016 about.  Doing things and moving forward, so I have a lot of resolutions, or goals.

Find someone to create a new and more professional blog layout.

Invest in a new camera.

Clean out my closet.

Attend a workout class once a week.

Write longer, more expressive posts.

Happy new year friends! I hope this year is great to all of you! What are some of your resolutions?
